FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Feb. 16, 2006
Lane reduction scheduled for Truman Road Bridge
Drivers will enjoy a fully restored bridge when work on the Truman Road Bridge over Blue River is completed in late 2007.
Repair work on this portion of Truman Road Bridge begins Feb. 22, weather permitting. Traffic will be shifted to the south side of the bridge, maintaining one open lane in each direction, while the north side of the bridge is repaired. Construction activities for this project are being staged to allow at least two lanes of traffic to remain open at all times. Based on public input received for this project, the City of Kansas City, Mo., selected this approach instead of a full closure in order to minimize the inconvenience to drivers.
Repairs being made to the bridge include replacing the existing concrete bridge deck, repairing and painting the steel beams and repairing portions of the foundation supports.
Progress on this and other capital improvement projects can be monitored by visiting the public access link located on the Capital Improvements Management Office’s Web site (www.kcmo.org/cimo).
