FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Feb. 24, 2006

Eastbound lanes of I-670 closed this weekend

To accommodate Kansas City Convention Center expansion efforts, some lanes of Interstate 670 will be closed this weekend.

From 7 p.m. today until 7 p.m. tomorrow, all eastbound lanes of the I-670 south downtown loop, and South Truman Road from Broadway Street to Baltimore Avenue will be closed to traffic.

Eastbound I-670 will close again at 7 p.m. on Sunday and will reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday.

During the closure, eastbound traffic on I-70 from Kansas or I-670 will be routed to the north portion of the downtown loop on I-70. Eastbound South I-35 traffic also will use this detour route to get to eastbound I-670.

A listing of scheduled I-670 closures is available at the Capital Improvements Management Office’s downtown construction Web site (www.kcmo.org/cimo.nsf/web/dtconst).

Media inquiries about these closures should be directed to Marny Burke, Capital Improvements Management Office, (816) 513-2749.
