FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 2, 2006

Eastbound I-670 to be closed for most of Saturday

To accommodate Kansas City Convention Center expansion efforts starting Friday at 7 p.m., eastbound lanes of I-670 from the West I-670/South I-35 split to the East I-670/North I-70 split will be closed until Saturday at 7 p.m.

The eastbound lanes will close again Sunday at 7 p.m. and will reopen Monday at 5 a.m.

South Truman Road from Broadway Street to Baltimore Avenue also will be closed to traffic during these times.

During lane closures, eastbound traffic on I-70 will be routed to the north portion of the downtown loop on I-70. Eastbound South I-35 traffic wishing to use eastbound I-670 also will use this detour.

The I-670 lane closures are scheduled to continue periodically through April while Convention Center expansion continues and the Wyandotte Street Bridge is rebuilt. A list of closures is available at the Capital Improvements Management Office’s Web site (www.kcmo.org/cimo).
