City offers plan room training for contractors

City of Kansas City, Mo., and Builders' Association staff will hold training sessions Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. about the Kansas City Plan Room.

These training sessions have been designed for contractors and will be held at the Builders' Association's education and training center, 105 W. 12th Ave., North Kansas City, Mo. Seating is limited and registration is required by 10 a.m. on Oct. 6.

The Kansas City Plan Room, a partnership between the City and the Builders' Association, will allow potential bidders to view all City related construction plans and specifications online for free. In addition, bidders can print the documents anywhere at anytime, whether they choose to use personal printers or a printing service. The plan room is interactive and allows potential bidders to make notes about the City's electronic plans, and make measurements and count units to cost out a bid.

The plan room launched Oct. 2 and is located at www.kcmo.org and www.kcmoplanroom.org. City projects posted prior to Oct. 1 will not be posted on the new Kansas City Plan Room, but will remain posted at www.westblue.com/wpr.aspx on the World Plan Room until the final bid opening.

For more information about the Kansas City Plan Room or to register for the training sessions, contact Sean Demory, communications specialist in the Capital Improvements Management Office, at Sean_Demory@kcmo.org or (816) 513-0059.
